The majority of our couples reach out for our services between 6 and 12 months before their wedding date.
Once in a while…our time to work with the couple is much shorter but no less memorable.
And in this case – it’s still one we adore, event though the bride and groom have since celebrated their first anniversary.
Time Crunch
A & A inquired with us five weeks before their wedding day at Grand Island Mansion.
But it was for the sweetest reason.
Initially, their family had planned to DIY all of their flowers and had extensive plans for them – they’d even already purchased compotes for centerpieces and been to market.
After her bridal shower and seeing how long her mom spent prepping before and cleaning after, A knew that she wanted her parents to be able to fully enjoy the wedding and chose to outsource florals to us.
And we’ve never seen parents who enjoyed their child’s wedding more!
Throughout our entire setup, we caught peeks of Mom and Dad ooohing and aaahing over every part of the wedding that was set up.
They even took photos of each other in each space and we were as smitten with them as they were with each other.
Lucky for us, they’d done a lot of the groundwork – with plans fully in place and a definite vision, it was a joy to step in and help them to wedding day perfection.
Grand Island Mansion Wedding
Grand Island Mansion is always a beautiful venue – historic, luxurious and elegant, with several options for ceremony location.
A & A chose to say their vows at the pillars.
We strongly believe that this is one of those areas where simplicity shines. A & A added two urns to the two permanent ones onsite. Overflowing blooms and greens in urns created a beautiful frame for their ceremony.
After the ceremony, all we had to do was move those urns to the back of the mansion to accent a beautiful dance floor.
Dinner in the Colonnade room is one of the highlights of any Grand Island wedding.
It can also be a little quirky. The round tables are small and the banquets are narrow.
A pro tip we like to share with all clients: bud vases, candles and petite compotes are the perfect size to accent the tables without the centerpieces ending up in your guests food.
The Floral Palette
A and A had selected a soft, vintage feel for their florals, perfect for the Gatsby vibe we get every time we’re at the Mansion.
In fact, we let that vintage inspiration guide our floral choices:
Roses and hydrangea that felt like they came from an English garden.
The early spring blooms of sweet pea and ranunculus.
Soft greens with mixed varieties of eucalyptus and dusty miller.
Varied textures of astrantia, limonium and wax flowers.
And the sweetest helleborus – because we really love them and take any opportunity to use them.
Although we were a last minute addition to the team, we are so glad we got to help A & A celebrate their wedding.
