How much should I expect my wedding flowers to cost?

There is no such thing as an average wedding – each and every wedding is as unique as the couple saying their vows. The size of the wedding party, season, style and requested flowers all impact the final proposal. We suggest starting with 10% of your total budget while being aware that factors such as large wedding parties or elevated arrangements will increase that amount.

The best way to get an accurate estimate? Schedule a consultation.

Strelitzia Flower Company is committed to transparency and integrity and, as such, we offer the following starting pricing for our most commonly ordered items:

  • Bridal Bouquets: $250
  • Bridesmaid’s Bouquets: $85 each
  • Boutonnieres: $22 each
  • Accented Arches: $400
  • Full Coverage Arches or Nests: $1000
  • Low Centerpieces: $70 per table
  • Elevated Centerpieces: $200 per table

*Please note that in addition to the designed pieces, full service wedding pricing will also include delivery and install fees, as well as rental costs and breakdown if needed.

Why are wedding flowers so expensive?

Wedding flowers are more labor intensive. There’s a big process that happens before we start designing your fist arrangement – all flowers are checked, trimmed and hydrated when they arrive at the shop, and placed out to open. Once they’re open and beautiful, they’re moved to the cooler to harden. Design of a full service wedding can often take multiple designers several days, if not longer.

At Weddings by Strelitzia, we use only premium flowers for weddings and events, which are a higher grade and often larger and longer lasting than grocery store blooms. We also separate the best of the best for the most important personal items such as bouquets and boutonnieres.

They’re a larger time investment for the shop. In addition to the design team’s work, each full service wedding is a custom event. That means that we create new recipes for new designs based on the client’s vision, present that in our proposal and order the right amount of flowers and hard goods for the event.

There are just a lot more flowers over all! Most clients are used to sending a dozen roses or a birthday arrangement here or there. The stem counts in wedding work are on average higher than what we consider a daily arrangement.

Flowers are a market based product and prices vary based on season and availability. We are also still feeling the effects of the supply chain disruptions caused by pandemic.

What is the booking process like?

Fill out our inquiry form here with the basics to verify that we are available for your date:

Once your date is confirmed as available, we’ll send out a link to our intake form. This allows us to gather more information. From there, we will set up an appointment to chat over the phone or via Zoom. Sometimes, we can present the proposal with the information from the intake form and sometimes we need to gather a bit more information.

Proposal presentation: if needed, we will set up another meeting to present your custom proposal. Again, we can do that in person, via Zoom, or phone.

Dates are secured with a 20% deposit and signed contract, both of which are included in our contract. We include one round of complimentary revisions before signing and additional ones as outlined in our contract. Dates are held for 10 days after the proposal is presented.

What do we need to do before booking our wedding florist?

You need to have secured your event’s venue and date. For weddings, you need to have selected the color of your bridesmaids’ dresses. If you’re going to be working with a planner or coordinator, it can be very helpful to have one selected before we start planning your wedding or event floral arrangements.

When should we schedule our wedding floral consultation?

Flowers used to consistently be one of the last vendors secured but that has changed quite a bit over the past few years. If your date is in one of the busier wedding months such as May, June, September and October, we recommend scheduling as early as the above items are settled. At Weddings by Sterlitzia, we are a large florist that produces and installs multiple full service weddings a weekend, but we do book up.
